British Empire Medal for Tamsin Harris
Tamsin Harris, Deputy Head at Indian Queens Primary School, has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in this year's Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to education and voluntary work.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit back in March 2020, Tamsin worked tirelessly to keep up the morale of staff and pupils alike throughout the challenging period but not content with working full-time (and all hours to boot!), she also joined an NHS Volunteer Scheme offering assistance to the Threemilestone and Gloweth Coronavirus Support Group.
Tamsin was nominated by a gentleman who organised the Threemilestone village support group as he rightly felt that she had done over and above what could be expected.
"When I opened the email I thought it was a joke at first. I couldn't understand it. At the end of the day I feel I have just done my job and helped my community, which I feel everyone should do. It reiterates what an amazing community Ãâ·Ñ¹úÍâbÕ¾´Ì¼¤Õ½³¡Ö±²¥app is and everyone helps everyone."
Over the last year she's been collecting food and doing odd jobs for people. She concludes:
"The pandemic has definitely brought people together."
On behalf of all your Aspire colleagues, many congratulations!
